Composition Of A Successful Sales Funnel

I’m going to tell you what the composition of a successful sales funnel looks like.

Sales funnels have been around since the caveman days when the early man would barter his conquest for something he didn’t have.

You get the idea that it’s been around a long time.

But what’s new is how the game has changed.

Nowadays, it’s not enough to just offer a product or a service to someone and expect them to jump on your offer right away.

It’s because we live in a world where it seems practically everyone wants to sell you something…but  the average joe is getting smarter.

As a matter of fact, most people usually say NO as a first response because they don’t want to be bothered.

So the seller needs to be a little more sensitive and clever in order to capture the interest of the suspect.

Once the suspect has shown some interest by offering to exchange his email for information, he then becomes a prospect.

At this point, we have a prospect who’s interested enough to have taken that first step.

This is where the all-important sales funnel comes into play.

This sales funnel needs to be set up in a such a way to attractively present your offer but with enough sensitivity to allow the prospect to become a buyer.

But hey, this potential buyer may think the offer to be too rich for his blood, so as he leaves, he is sent to another offer that might just be more to his liking.

Now let us suppose he likes the next offer a bit more and decides to buy.

He’s given direction to the paying area but wait, there’s another offer before he gets there.

This is called an OTO.  Otherwise known in the industry as a One-Time-Offer.

This is designed to turn the new buyer into a client.  This OTO could be a number of things such as a membership site, an inner circle or perhaps a coaching program.  It can be anything that you believe can benefit this new client.

The reason you want to offer something valuable and beneficial is because you want to make this client an advocate who will continuously buy your products and be supportive of your initiatives.  He may even become a good friend.  The sky’s the limit when you treat someone with sensitivity and respect.

The immediate goal of the successful sales funnel is to make a sale but it is also important to convert a good percentage of the people who are drawn to your initial offer.

But what I’ve noticed is that a majority of marketers do not do this sales funnel thing properly.

There’s a lot of steps to be taken and it’s not for the faint-hearted.

Social Traffic Dashboard

Just finished reviewing the Social Traffic Dashboard and all I can say is WOW .

Sue Worthington has created the prototype product concerning social media.  This is the product you want to get if you want to make inroads into the fastest growing segment of internet marketing.

Each social media contain a total of 6 very well-laid-out short videos beginning  with  preparation followed by a how-to-find followers video and 4 more short videos encompassing diferent strategies for each one.

Let me tell you what’s happening now in the digital field.

The potential growth that the digital field holds for online marketers in 2013 has the industry abuzz with ideas and awash in opportunistic optimism.

In preparation, many savvy marketers are moving their offline budget into online channels that are more calculable.

Zenith Optimedia recently released a report that predicts the growth of Internet marketing and advertising by 14.6% in the upcoming year while traditional media will only see a dismal 1.7% spike.

Going even further than that, digital advertising is expected to continue this trend until it comprises one quarter of all media spending by the year 2015.

In order to do this, you’ll need a few strategies that will allow you to tap into different online channels and then weave them together to form the ultimate branding machine for the rest of 2013 and beyond.

Here are some great tips for moving forward this year with your digital communications:

Strategizing Integrated Digital Communications

Identifying your key social media channels and then coming up with a strategy to integrate your communication plans for both social and traditional marketing vehicles is key.

This can be as simple as bringing up a topic of conversation on each of your channels. While the topic should be the same across the boards, customize the conversation to fit the medium it is taking place on.  This means no copying and pasting.

Then, analyze the data and see where the feedback is similar and where it differs, allowing you to better adjust your target market groups and allocate them to the proper marketing channels.

Crisis Management in the Social Age

Of course, since social media is so new and so instantaneous with its feedback (including the trolls), you’re bound to make some kind of mistake sooner or later. Whether it’s huge or miniscule, you have to take some quick steps to correct the blunder.

Keep the Four B’s in mind:

  • Be Humble
  • Be Real
  • Be Honest
  • Be Direct

Tackle the issue directly; tell your fan/client base where they can go if they have questions, tell them you’ve learned from the mistake and that measures are being put into place so it doesn’t happen again. But most of all, get on it quickly before it gets out of hand.

Recognize that Social Media is So Much More

Social media is about connecting with others, not just keeping up with the latest promotions or news. Tap into the actual social aspect of it and help foster a community where people can connect with one another.

Speak directly to your audience and build consumer confidence by providing useful, smart information to them. You can build your marketing around that trust from there.

Short, Smart and Sweet

Always keep your posts quick and to the point. Nobody has time to read long status updates so keep them under 100 characters.

Provide a link for them to click if they want to learn more and have the time. Also, make sure whatever you are posting is worth reading.

Give them stuff they’d want their friends or colleagues to see. Use a call-to-action such as “Share with your friends” or “Pass it on!”

And finally, make sure the post is something that you are okay with being out there forever because it will be. Each social media message represents you or your brand, so make them polite and sweet.

Know Your Search Engines

Most people know that Google is the biggest search engine used, but did you know that Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other sites of the same ilk are ALSO search engines? Make sure you rank on all of them, not just Google.

Don’t get left behind without an updated digital strategy.

My Partnership To Success

1237611_45041848First of all, I don’t believe in the “Lone Ranger” theory of doing everything by yourself.

This is why I joined the “Partnership To Success program with John Thornhill.

Even though I’ve been around the internet since the mid 90’s, I was looking for a program that would take me from A to Z of internet marketing.

This “Partnership To Success program does just that.

It’s uniquely designed to guide a newbie or a seasoned veteran like myself over the course of one year.

Each week, a new plan of action is sent to my computer in video and PDF form for me to apply it’s lessons.

I’m now on Week 10, so let’s go over the topics covered so far:

  1. The first week was filled with getting my blog started.  Implemented was domain name, web hosting, getting a free Clickbank account, installing FileZilla and adding a few links and categories to the blog.  John encouraged us to start blogging immediately to get used to it.
  2. The second week was spent installing the Flexibility 3 theme utilized here on this blog.  Also installed social media plugins and header image.  Applied for a free Google AdSense account.
  3. Week 3 saw me implement AdSense on my blog once I was approved.  Created more categories and added links to other sites as wel
  4. I registered for an account in Aweber for week 4.   Activated all the social media buttons with Aweber as well as confirmation page.  Also activated the top sidebar on my blog in order to display all the social media buttons.
  5. Week 5 was largely having to do with the opt in pop up graphics that needed to be installed through the auto-responder Aweber.  This included adding affiliate links and testing that everything was working well.
  6. In week 6, the Widling widget was introduced, courtesy of Dave Nicholson.  This allowed me to visit other Partnership To Success sites and make comments as well as giving other PTS members the ability to find me.
  7. Week 7 was spent learning how to add images and videos to my posts.  Also learned how to add banner ads and content to headers.
  8. Week number 8 bought a shift away from working on my blog to finding a proper niche.  John had me write down all the things I’ve written about so far.  Another 40 things were researched concerning favorite websites, what I enjoy doing and what I think I’m good at.  From all of those things, I came up with 10 core topics.  Easier said than done.
  9. Week 9 was again focused totally on niche selection and John also included a list of  101 niches to help me along my niche research.
  10. Week 10 is the one I’m working on and it’s about doing more research and gathering information.

As you can see, there is a lot involved with having a blog and how to set it up properly.

Another thing I like about this program is the ability to go at my own pace.

For instance, if you fall behind, you can withhold the next delivery and if you want to go faster, you can have the weekly installments delivered quicker.

At this point it’s been a good pace for me,  so I’ll be continuing to receive my weekly installment as programmed.

I’ll keep you up-to-date by writing another post that will contain the following 10 weeks.

There’s a lot of competition for your hard earned money on the internet.  I’ve noticed a lot of internet marketing courses being offered ranging from $17 dollars to $1700 dollars and more.

Some are pretty good while a majority of the courses are outdated in an increasingly evolving internet.

This is an important question because you need to treat this idea as a business rather than just a hobby.  A hobby is too easy to give up once the fun leaves while you’re more likely to hang in there if you want to make a living at this business.

Another good question is…

Where do you want to be in 5 years from now?

in three years…or one year down the road.

Having an idea where you want to go will help you determine what kind of marketing course you will need in order to capitalize on your desired goal.

What Is That Goal?

Most people will say generic things like “I want to be rich” or I want to “make a million dollars”, but that is not a goal…that’s simply called “chasing the money”.

It’s  too generic…because finding that goal will require you to come up with a purpose or a niche;  something you can be passionate about since focus will be at a premium.


When I say focus will be at a premium, I mean you’ll need to treat this internet marketing business like a business and not a hobby.  You’ll need to stay focus everyday to accomplish something regarding moving your IM business forward and that will take a certain dedication and focus that does not come as easily as it sounds.

Why Is Focusing So Difficult?

We live in a world full of distraction.  As an example, while writing this post, I’ve been interrupted by my wife several times already plus there’s the emails that keep coming and phone calls plus the dog is now barking.

I’m sure another topic of discussion can be about how not to be distracted but I’ll save that article for another day.

When does a group truly become one mind?

That’s something I’ve been exploring since I wrote my last post, 3 weeks ago.

I’ve been looking into the concept of having the proper mindset to be successful in this business… such as possessing that all important can-do positive attitude.

But… Is Having a Great Attitude Enough?

Is it enough to possess a positive minded attitude to accomplish your goal…which is having a striving business you can call your own?

Maybe…and maybe not…and here’s why.

I believe you need a lot of people working together as one mind.

Different minds doing their very best at what they are good at in order to produce a viable internet business that’s churning products and services in a way that becomes contagious.

THAT’S WHEN  YOU KNOW your group has the proper mindset to accomplish any goal that’s put in front of them.

In this business, you need all the pieces working together for a common good.

I had a vision way back in 1995, to form a company I called et al Associates.

‘et al’ is Latin abbreviation meaning “and others“.

As you can see, I believe in the concept of utilizing many minds to form a complete mindset.

As an example of this mindset usage, I have several partners in my et al Associates group.

One guy is good at writing,  another person does well in audio recordings, while another’s forte is producing videos and  I’m good at organizing.

So what’s my point you ask?

I’ll answer your question with this question!

How many people do you know that can do everything very well?

Personally, no one comes to mind because everybody has weaknesses… but collectively we can become a strong entity if we put our minds together in a harmonious way to create whatever we want to create.

Having a great attitude is important but without a team… it’s like playing a basketball game with you on one side against 5 guys.  You’re not going to win many games.

Being a great writer is terrific but you still need help with getting your article produced and read.

With et al Associates, I’m in the process of gathering many mindsets (people with different ideas) together.

My goal is to organize these creative people in such a way that will allow them to bring their talents to the organization and together, as one collective mind, we will be able to help others achieve their goals.

Would You Give Up The Money?

1162217_44813134Yesterday, I had an interesting conversation with a friend about giving up money in order to do the right thing. 

The question goes like this: 

Would you give up money you properly earned if faced with a revelation that it wasn’t earned properly? 

Think about it for a minute.  Did you actually do anything wrong on your end?  Did you do your best to earn that money?

Let’s face the facts of today’s world we live in;

  • It’s a fact…that someone is always trying to get away with something
  • It’s a fact…that somebody is going to try to scam you
  • It’s a fact…that not all products are created equal
  • It’s a fact…there are people who want everything for nothing
  • It’s a fact…there are people who’s sole means of income is stealing
  • It’s a fact…there are those who have that “entitlement” mentality
  • It’s a fact…that a percentage of people are downright lazy

Feel free to add you own factual experiences but I think you get the point that when it comes to money;  for some people anything goes.

There are other factors when trying to decide whether or not the money should no longer be accepted.

It could be that…

  1. You don’t need it
  2. Your integrity is  being challenged
  3. You want to do the right thing
  4. You wander if anyone will know
  5. You were raised up a certain way
  6. You think it’s stealing
  7. You don’t want to know

I’m sure there’s other reasons I’ve overlooked but I believe the answer must come within…and that answer will also reveal to us who we really are when it comes to dealing with money.

Are you so desperate to make money that you’re willing to do anything for it? Or perhaps you’re on the other side of the coin and believe in doing the rightfully honest thing.

I think most of us fall in between the two extremes.

I’m sure we can all  find ways to rationalize keeping the money…and I’m sure that most of those reasons are perfectly justifiable.

But in the end,

I would rather be known for;

  • someone who gives value to others
  • someone  who’ll do just about anything to help somebody
  • someone who can be trusted
  • someone who will never cheat anybody
  • someone who can be depended upon to do the right thing

What I’ve Been Up To
